1. The service

StorePort provides an online platform that helps people offering spare storage space (“hosts”) connect with people seeking space (“renters”). StorePort is not itself a storage provider, warehouse operator, or insurer. The storage relationship is directly between host and renter. Payments may be processed via third parties (e.g. Stripe); those providers have their own terms.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. You agree that registration information is accurate and that you will keep account credentials secure. StorePort may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or pose risk to others.

3. Host obligations

  • Provide truthful descriptions, photos, dimensions, access arrangements, and any material restrictions (e.g. hazardous goods not permitted).
  • Comply with applicable laws and council rules in your Australian state or territory and your local government area, including planning, home business, parking, fire, electrical safety, and tenancy restrictions. Whether you may lawfully offer part of your property for paid storage is a legal question for you and your advisers.
  • Respond to booking requests and messages reasonably and honour accepted bookings except where law allows otherwise.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance; StorePort does not insure stored goods or your premises.

4. Renter obligations

  • Use the space only for lawful purposes and goods disclosed to the host.
  • Pay agreed fees when due and follow access and safety rules communicated by the host.
  • Not store dangerous, illegal, perishable, or uninsurable items without explicit written agreement.

5. Bookings, bailment, and risk

Storage often involves concepts such as bailment (temporary possession of another’s goods). Rights and duties between host and renter, including liability for loss, theft, fire, or flood, depend on your contract and the facts. StorePort is not a party to that relationship and does not guarantee outcomes. Put key terms (access hours, notice to end, liability caps, prohibited items) in writing between host and renter if you need certainty.

6. Fees and payments

StorePort may charge a platform fee on transactions as disclosed at checkout or in host materials. Fees are processed through payment partners. Taxes (e.g. GST) may apply; hosts and renters are responsible for their own tax reporting in Australia.

7. Australian Consumer Law and fair trading

Many consumers and some small businesses benefit from the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), which forms Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth). The ACL is applied as uniform law in each state and territory (often supplemented by local fair trading legislation and regulators). The ACL includes consumer guarantees and prohibitions on misleading conduct, unfair practices, and unfair contract terms in certain circumstances. Whether the ACL applies to your listing or booking depends on the facts. For overview information, see the ACCC and your state or territory consumer protection agency. These sources are not a substitute for legal advice.

8. Disclaimers and liability cap

To the extent permitted by law, StorePort excludes liability for indirect loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform. Where liability cannot be excluded, StorePort’s aggregate liability arising out of these terms is limited, where lawful, to the platform fees StorePort retained from you in the six months before the claim. Some rights under the ACL cannot be excluded; this section is subject to those non-excludable rights.

9. Disputes

Users should first try to resolve disputes directly. Consumer issues may be raised with the ACCC, Consumer Affairs Australia, or the fair trading or consumer protection body in your state or territory. Nothing in these terms prevents you from approaching a court, tribunal, or ombudsman with jurisdiction.

10. Changes

StorePort may update these terms. Material changes should be notified through the product or by email where we have your address. Continued use after notice may constitute acceptance of reasonable updates.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You and StorePort submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of courts exercising jurisdiction in Australia. Mandatory consumer protections in the place where you live may still apply regardless of this clause.
